Some web sources list more than 20 children for this couple, which seems unlikely!

According to Savage,47 Thomas Thayer of "Braintree, shoemaker, perhaps elder br. of Richard the first, brot. from Eng. perhaps as late as 1645, w. Margery, and three prolific s. Thomas, Ferdinando, and Shadrach, or Sydrach, as in his will of 21 June 1644, he calls him; was freem. 1647, when it is writ. Tayer; d. 2 June 1665, well advanc. in yrs; and his will was pro. 13 Sept. foll. His wid. d. 11 Feb 1673."

He married Margery WHEELER54, 9G Grandmother, on 13 Apr 1618 in Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England.

They had one child:

4094 Thomas BARRETT54, 9G Grandfather. Born on 6 Jan 1607/8 in Norwich, Norfolk, England. Will dated on 1 Mar 1662 at Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Died in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, on 6 Oct 1668. Immigrated in 1635.

Anderson et al.88 conclude that the Thomas Barrett who sailed on the Increase in 1635 was not the settler of Braintree and Chelmsford, as suggested by Savage. More work on these various lines is needed.
