“He was a farmer of Bedford.”8 Note that this Zachariah Fitch and his brother Joseph married sisters Elizabeth and Sarah Grimes of Lexington. Note also that three of Zachariah and Elizabeth (Grimes) Fitch’s children all died in September 1749, perhaps from a common cause. The town of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was named for this Zachariah’s brother John Fitch.
