Misc. Notes
According to Threlfall’s GMC50322, Ambrose Jackaman “was born about 1540-44, presumably at Mendlesham where he must have grown up. His wife’s name was Rose. During the first few years of their marriage, they lived in Mendlesham and here their first three children were baptized. They moved to Barking, which is nine miles south of Mendlesham. There Rose was buried 3 April 1594. A little over a year later, on 17 August 1595 at Barking, he remarried to Rose Hart, a widow, whose first husband, William Hart, was buried 10 February 1594/5 at Barking.

“In the manorial court rolls of Barking, for the court held 2 October 1604, it was presented that Ambrose Jackaman had received from John Woods the surrender of a cottage in Needham in the occupation of Michael Nutt, with a small yard adjoining, which Woods had received by the surrender of Roger Colchester in 43 Elizabeth (1600). Michael Nutt was his son-in-law. Thus, Ambrose Jackaman was living as late a 1604.

“Rose Jackaman of Needham, widow, was buried on 30 December 1625. At this time, Needham Market was within the parish of Barking.”
