Thomas Barbour autograph signature on front flyleaf of Barbour’s Naturalist at Large (Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1943). Also inscribed in pencil on front flyleaf, “From Harold Walker – Christmas 1943.” Thomas Barbour (1884–1946) was a leading American herpetologist of the early twentieth century. He was one of the founders of the Barro Colorado Island research station in Panama, and director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University from 1927–1946. This volume collects a number of Barbour’s popular natural history columns from the Atlantic Monthly.
