Visit a Park Online

Letter to the Editor, The Greensboro News & Record (Greensboro, North Carolina), March 1998.

Visit a park online

We were encouraged to read that Greensboro is considering expansion of its park system. Ample park land is vital to the ecological health and social fabric of every community. One of the most under-appreciated parks in Greensboro is Peabody Park along the north border of the UNCG campus from McIver to Aycock Streets. Established by the philanthropist George Foster Peabody in 1901 as an educational park, it has been used by students, faculty and neighbors of the university for teaching and recreation for nearly 100 years.

We invite readers to learn more by exploring the new Peabody Park website, sponsored by UNCG’s Department of Biology.
