To: darwin-l@ukanaix.cc.ukans.edu The recent mention of similarities between reasoning in science and in lin- guistics raises the question, Have there been discussions of linguistic evo- lution as a process closely paralleling biological evolution? Of course, there is always a free and general metaphoric correspondence implied in all talk of language families, but I would like to know whether anyone has attempted a systematic correspondence between the two activities.
