I'm an historical linguist with specialization in Romance, primarily Italian (very much including dialects) and secondarily in Spanish, with interest focused most tightly on theory of sound change, and thus--relevant to the List lately--on both divergence and convergence. I'm an associate professor in the Dept of French and Italian, University of Wisconsin-Madison. I thank Bob O'Hara immensely for starting this List, which is the most stimulating I've seen.
