The immigrant Abraham Browne has been studied by many genealogists. The most comprehensive account is that of Smith162, which supersedes all earlier works (including Anderson’s,157 who notes Smith’s results in an addendum, p. 2087). Abraham Browne was a surveyor and a prominent settler and office-holder of Watertown, owning substantial property and playing an important role in the early establishment of the town. Rodgers163 transcribes Abraham Browne’s undated and apparently nuncupative will along with a collection of other documents (some as late as 1694) relating to the lengthy settlement of his estate.
