RJO’s copy of Allan D. Cruickshank’s Birds Around New York City: When and Where to Find Them (New York: American Museum of Natural History, 1942), ex Ernst Mayr, Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University. Presentation copy to Mayr from Roy W. Miner, invertebrate zoologist and chairman of the AMNH Committee on Popular Publications, inscribed on the title page verso, “To Dr. Ernst Mayr | with cordial appreciation of | Roy W. Miner.” Cruickshank was a noted twentieth-century naturalist, nature photographer, writer, and lecturer for the National Audubon Society, and a native of New York.
