Finn Salomonsen Inscription from RJO’s Library

Finn Salomonsen’s classic ornithological monograph Moults and Sequence of Plumages in the Rock Ptarmigan (Copenhagen: P. Haase & Søn, 1939), ex Ernst Mayr, Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University. Presentation copy from Salomonsen to Mayr, inscribed on front flyleaf, “Herr Dr. Ernst Mayr | Mit freundlichen Grüssen | vom Verf.” Finn Salomonsen was one of the leading Danish ornithologists of the twentieth century and an authority on the birds of Greenland. He spent much of his career as a curator at the Zoological Museum, Copenhagen.
