6192. Thomas? WYMANT529, 10G Grandfather, son of 12384. Thomas? WYMANT.

Threlfall in his GMC50528 conjectures that this Thomas Wymant who married Ellen Brand is the father of the children listed here. See under his son Thomas for details from Threlfall.

The dates given here for Thomas Richardson and Margaret Silverside are from www.wyman.org (30 May 1998). Is it correct that Margaret was about 20 years older than her husband?
He married Margaret SILVERSIDE172, 10G Grandmother on 15 Jun 1567 St. Albans Abbey, Hertfordshire, England.
They had one child:
3098i.
Thomas, 9G Grandfather (~1567-)

6198. Richard DUXFORD673, 10G Grandfather, son of 12396. John DUXFORD & 12397. Agnes _____. Born abt 1535-40 in England. Buried on 23 Apr 1622 in Westmill, Hertfordshire, England. Will dated on 23 Mar 1618 at Westmill, Hertfordshire, England.

According to Threlfall’s GMC50674, Richard Duxford “seems to have been the first of the name to settle in Westmill, Hertfordshire. The name comes from Duxford in Cambridgeshire, which is 6 miles west of Linton and 16 miles NNE of Westmill. What little is known of him comes from his will and the parish register. His wife was Joan, and she was buried 24 September 1616. Richard was buried 23 April 1622, both in Westmill.

“Since the earliest baptisms in the parish register of Westmill start in 1580, there is no certainty that his children were born there. Possibly they were baptized in another parish. An abstract of his will and his inventory follow.”

According to Threlfall’s GMC50677, Ambrose Jackaman “was born about 1540-44, presumably at Mendlesham where he must have grown up. His wife’s name was Rose. During the first few years of their marriage, they lived in Mendlesham and here their first three children were baptized. They moved to Barking, which is nine miles south of Mendlesham. There Rose was buried 3 April 1594. A little over a year later, on 17 August 1595 at Barking, he remarried to Rose Hart, a widow, whose first husband, William Hart, was buried 10 February 1594/5 at Barking.

“In the manorial court rolls of Barking, for the court held 2 October 1604, it was presented that Ambrose Jackaman had received from John Woods the surrender of a cottage in Needham in the occupation of Michael Nutt, with a small yard adjoining, which Woods had received by the surrender of Roger Colchester in 43 Elizabeth (1600). Michael Nutt was his son-in-law. Thus, Ambrose Jackaman was living as late a 1604.

“Rose Jackaman of Needham, widow, was buried on 30 December 1625. At this time, Needham Market was within the parish of Barking.”

According to Threlfall’s GMC26678, “THOMAS POTTER (Nicholas) of Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, was born probably about 1500 to 1505. Thomas made his will on 7 July 1552 and it was proved 5 Dec 1553, so he probably died late in the year 1553. He named his wife Margaret who presumably survived him. She must have died before 1558 when the parish burial records start, for there is no record of her burial after that date.
