<8:42>From JLOESBE@AUVM.AMERICAN.EDU Thu Apr 14 11:07:27 1994 Date: Thu, 14 Apr 94 12:03:14 EDT From: Jonathan Loesberg <JLOESBE@american.edu> Organization: The American University Subject: Re: Who was Schlegel? To: darwin-l@ukanaix.cc.ukans.edu Friedrich Schlegel was a German Romantic philosopher. His dates were 1772-1829, so he is end of the 18th century, beginning of the 19th. He was among a group of philosophers a generation younger than Kant who extended Kant's idealism. He is most famous for his writing on aesthetics, at least among literature professors, such as Lectures on the History of Literature, and on the philosophy of history. I don't know of his naturalist writing though. Jonathan Loesberg
